Promote Single-Payer Healthcare
In order to raise the profile of the single-payer healthcare movement I feel that direct civil disobediance actions like those of the "Baucus 13" are INDISPENSABLE! Also, it's imperative that doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals be at the forefront of these actions! Of course it's tremendously important that "Baucus 13" - style cations be covered by the Mainstream Media, so somebody needs to have a video camera or recorder running while this type of civil disobediance takes place. Letters to the editor and calls to Congress are certainly useful, but peole need to peacefully challenge the private comprehensive coverage mandate paradigm directly and risk arrest by doing so. You can easily incarcerate 13 people, but when 500 or a 1,000 or 5,000 people do a similar action incarceration becomes prohibitively expensive.

Have a camera
Yes, it is critical that we have our own cameras with us when we do civil disobedience. The YouTube media outlet is indispensable to spreading the word and creating our own media. We cannot count on the traditional, corporate media to cover our efforts.
And, you are also right that it is going to take civil disobedience at a much higher level to win the single payer effort.
It is worth it. Single payer solves a lot of problems beyond health care, e.g. deficit spending and it will show people that we have the power to challenge corporate power. Winning single payer will be a step toward winning a lot of other economic justice issues.
